DJI Agriculture Elevates Precision Farming in Mexico with Innovative Drone Technology and Pilot Training
Spray drone sales in Mexico grew 56 times over six years since 2019
August 7, 2025 – DJI, the world leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, today announced that the next generation of DJI Agriculture drones – Agras T100, Agras T70P, and Agras T25P – will now be available for sale in Mexico through local authorized dealers. It also marks a significant growth milestone in the market, where demand has grown exponentially. Spray drone sales in Mexico grew 56 times over six years since 2019. Today, DJI Agriculture drones are being operated in 7.1% of Mexican farms, and are served by a local network of 172 stores and 73 after-sales centers.
"In bringing our advanced drone technology to farmers worldwide, DJI Agriculture has helped drive economic development by increasing crop yields, conserving resources, and improving worker safety," said Yuan Zhang, Head of Global Sales at DJI Agriculture. “Since entering the Mexican market in 2019, the demand for agricultural drones has exceeded expectations each year. Moreover, DJI Academy has trained nearly 3,000 agriculture drone operators since opening the first Mexico branch in 2022, creating new employment opportunities within the local agriculture industry.”
Since DJI began building drones for agricultural use in 2012, the company’s goals have been rooted in a mission to help farmers conserve water and increase their yields. From the first Agras drone launched in 2015 to the current Agras T100, over 500,000 agricultural drones have been deployed to treat more than 300 types of crops in over 100 countries and regions. A 2025 case study found that a single agricultural drone can match the spraying efficiency of 50 manual laborers applying treatments by hand. On an 3,000-hectre avocado orchard, spraying with a drone resulted in a 40% in total cost savings in water consumption (from 400L/ha to 60L/ha) and efficiency (from treating 0.5 ha/day to 20 ha/day).
New DJI Agriculture drones for spraying, spreading — and now lifting
DJI Agras T100, T70P, and T25P build on over 12 years of dedicated research and development. Not only can these agricultural drones carry heavier payloads, but they can also support multiple application scenarios with higher operational efficiency. Each drone features industry-leading safety systems and more intelligent features for fully automated operations. Most notably, the Agras T100 can carry a maximum payload of 100 L for spraying, 150 L for spreading, or 100 kg for lifting, with the maximum operation speed increased to 20 m/s**. Compared to its predecessor, it is twice as efficient for high-volume spraying and faster for large-capacity spreading.
Adapting to Mexico’s Agricultural Landscape and Crops
In collaboration with local farmers worldwide, DJI has established a robust feedback loop as part of its research and development process. In Mexico, DJI has partnered with local growers to advance the use of agricultural drones for precision spraying and crop management in corn, soybean, and sugarcane fields under arid conditions, as well as for orchard crops on mountainous terrain. For example, the Agras T100 is equipped with LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar, and a Penta-Vision system. This industry-leading safety system makes the drone well-suited to detect and avoid smaller obstacles when treating avocado orchards in the mountains of Michoacán. The new lifting feature also makes it easier for these farmers to transport materials to and from their farms.
New Training Program for Agriculture Drone Operations
DJI Agriculture will expand the new pilot training courses in Mexico for agricultural drones under DJI Academy. Designed to empower new pilots, the courses will cover essential skills for agricultural drone operations, including crop protection spraying and spreading, safe piloting practices, and improving efficiency with maximum effectiveness.
